MRS Nomad S1D (with D Deck)

Once packrafts broke conventions in water sports. Now the Nomad S1D is breaking conventions in packrafting. The central seating position and symmetrical bow and stern are similar to a conventional kayak, producing similar paddling dynamics. At 4,5kg, the gross weight is more than most solo packrafts, but the Nomad remains very packable boat for easy travel and exciting adventures. The Nomad S1 is part of the MRS Streamline^SLoptimization.

The boat is ideal for solo or group tours, even with conventional hardshell kayaks and canoes. With a boat length of just under 3m, the speed difference will be barely noticeable. The Nomad S1 is the packraft suited to long distances and extended periods on the water, including white water.

Spraydeck

The Nomad S1D is equipped with a roll-up spray deck (D Deck) which combines almost 100% water tightness with the option of an open boat. In warm and dry weather parallel twin zippers and velcro patches allow the deck to be rolled forward (even when on the water), and also enable quick and easy access to the storage area behind the seat. Coaming rods slip into the rim of the generously sized hatch to ensure a good seal with the supplied spray skirt.

When fully closed, the spraydeck achieves a seal close to regular whitewater decks. In harsh environments such as heavy rain, cold, rolling waves and splashes you are well protected.

Other outfit

The Nomad S1 has a fully adjustable, six-point comfort backrest, which supports your lumbar region, especially over long distances. The backrest is fully adjustable, which makes the packraft fit for paddlers of different heights. Optional available with Rod support backrest. This backrest system combines a support rod backrest with a mesh backrest. This design clearly enhances overall seating comfort.

The packraf has a preinstalled soft mount for a removable fin/skeg for better tracking and increased speed. A fin is included in the delivery.

Furthermore the shape of the stern provides luggage capacity behind the seat.

Internal Storage System (optional)

For the Nomad S1D is a special form of an Internal Storage System (ISS) available, the ISS2. There are 2 cargo zippers (TiZip Superseal) to the left and right side of the central segments (see pictures). Overall, the transport capacity of the boat is considerably increased. Please note the information and care instruction to the optional Internal Storage System.

First stow the luggage, then close the zippers, then fully inflate the main air chamber.

Primary use

The Nomad S1D is fun to use on both calm waters and white water. If you like long distance paddling over extended periods of time, the Nomad S1D is your choice. In terms of whitewater capability, especially bigger waves, the boat will perform well, compared to a regular packraft the paddler will have to make compromises in agility and ease of turning in narrow creeks.

Typical areas of use include touring the extensive lakes in Scandinavia, coast hopping in southern Europe, white water touring in France, large rivers on all continents, but also urban areas like the canals of Amsterdam or Venice.

Note
For good performance and safety it is important to pay attention to the right air pressure (especially in cold water). Because of the dynamics in a long hull and central seating position, too low pressure can lead to distortions and bends of the hull. We recommend the Anfibio hand pump.

Tolles leichtes Boot für eher schmal gebaute Menschen, die durchaus lange Beine haben dürfen. Wenn das Boot so gut aufgeblasen ist, dass es mit Beladung keine Falten wirft, entspricht die Breite den Angaben in der Beschreibung. Sehr guter Geradeauslauf, sehr gute Tragbarkeit, Material sehr robust. Man fühlt sich sehr sicher. Einsteigen einfach. Kein Manko gefunden.

Kann mich nur anschließen, ein Traum. Quer über den Bodensee, gegen Wind und Wellen auf dem Rhein - macht einfach Spaß! Der Hund liegt auch gerne vorne drauf... Das Leihboot herzugeben war sehr sehr schwer! Nun heißt es warten auf die nächste Lieferung...

Ich hatte mich für das Nomad S1 entschieden und bereue dies absolut nicht. Nach mehreren Fahrten auf unserem "Haussee" und auch einer schönen Tour auf dem Rursee, hat es sich dann auch auf der Erft bewährt. Da können noch viele Paddeltouren kommen.
Die Verarbeitung des Bootes macht einen hervorragenden Eindruck.
Mal sehen wie es sich platzmäßig bei einer Mehrtagestour schlagen wird.
