Anfibio Nano SL, the ultra-light, super minimalist packraft

The superlight Nano SL packraft is suited to adventures where most of the distance is covered on land while still providing the ability to make short detours to lonely islands, follow calm rivers or take short-cuts across lakes and fjords. The Nano SL easily fits into a daypack and quickly becomes a pocket-sized boat that can be deployed anywhere. Despite the ultralight fabric, the Nano’s conventional proportions provide surprising comfort and stability on longer stretches of water.

Super-light design

The amazingly low weight is principally achieved by the Nano SL’s special construction. The entire boat is made from just three sections of fabric (conventional packrafts use up to 11 panels). This is made possible by form of the hull with horizontally arranged seams and direct fabric welding, eliminating the need for seam tape.

The floor and side walls of the hull are made from durable 210D nylon with the airtight PU coating applied to the interior surface. This increases tear resistance and leaves the coating untouched by mechanical stress from the outside. This groundbreaking construction archives considerable weight savings which preserving a high ratio of robustness to total weight.

Outfit

Despite its low weight and special design features, the Nano SL still has a real packraft feeling. One of the reasons for this is the typical shape of the Nano SL. The voluminous bow and stern provide more buoyancy at for both paddler and payloads totalling up to 120kg. But the SL still features seven grab loops for securely lashing down baggage, as well as a loop for fastening the optional seat.

Special features

The Nano SL features high manufacturing quality, evident from the cleanly trimmed and welded seams. This special construction results in a taught and slightly raised floor which makes it usable either without, or with a basic seat (such as sleeping mats). For longer periods on the water the optional seat is recommended as a comfort plus (it makes a great camp cushion or sleeping pillow too). With a generous inner length of 120cm, the Nano SL fits paddlers up to 1.90m tall.

Use

Whether for ultralight adventures and trekking tours with unavoidable river crossings, extended treks in mixed terrain, or other hobbies such as fishing, geocaching or just a weekend trip to a beautiful lake, the Nano SL takes no space in your backpack but is more than just boat for short river crossings. It is mainly used on lakes and calm flowing waters. Due to its minimal weight and tiny packed size, it makes a handy backup boat or emergency raft for other water-borne pursuits. Of course it’s also suitable as a children’s boat and can be quickly repacked if not used. Other suggested uses include:

• Canyoning and cave tours

• Urban packrafting.

Note

The boat is inflated with the supplied nylon air bag. In the unlikely event of damage, we recommend the Anfibio LifePatch for repairs in the field in just a few minutes. Small perforations can also be treated with a blob of Stormsure sealant.

Well done, Anfibio!
I already own a Kokopelli Rogue Lite and a Klymit Litewater, and I have extensively tested a Supai Canyon Flatwater, so I have some references to compare the Nano SL with.

If you compare it with other ultralight packrafts, like the Klymit or the Supai, the Nano SL plays in a different league: the Klymit or the Supai are allright for short crossings in calm water, but the Anfibio can do much more than that, as its faster, more seaworthy and more confortable, yet lighter than the Klymit and almost as light as the Supai.

The Rogue Lite is faster than the Nano SL and it handles better, but the Nano SL is not that far behind... and its weight is just 1/3 of the weight of the Rogue Lite.

Overall, a great ultralight packraft that can also be used as a general use packraft if you accept its limits.

Ultraleicht und Mini Packmaß
Ich habe das Anfibio nano SL jetzt mehrmals getestet und kann sagen das es alle Erwartungen übertrifft. Das Packmaß ist unglaublich dieses Raft passt samt Paddel (Ultraleicht Paddel von Anfibio) in einen Schulrucksack und dabei hat man immer noch Platz im Rucksack. Selbst das Rapid Raft von Uncharted ist größer und schwerer also wirklich das kleinste Raft das ich je gesehen habe. Das Gewicht ist nicht der Rede Wert, jede normalgroße Mineralwasserflasche wiegt mehr. Trotz der leichten Bauweise hat man nicht das Gefühl, das das Raft besonders fragil ist im Gegenteil. Ich bin bei viel Wind auf einen See mit viel Gepäck unterwegs gewesen und dabei häufiger gegen Äste gedonnert, empfehlen würde ich das natürlich nicht aber das Nano SL hat es ohne Probleme und Schäden überstanden. Zur Fahrweise kann ich sagen, dass es natürlich bei Wind schwieriger ist den Kurs zu halten aber es ist viel angenehmer als ich erwartet habe. Das Team von Anfibio hat mit auch wunderbar zu der Möglichkeit beraten ein Skeg anzubringen, was die Spurhaltung verbessert. Ich würde jeden empfehlen eine kleine Pumpe zum Raft zu holen da der Blasesack zur vollen Straffheit nicht ausreicht. Für Wanderer gibt es meiner Meinung nach kein besseres Raft.

wundervolles kleines Boot!

Ich liebe Tagestouren mit viel Gepäck (alles für Hund und mich) und die Kombination aus Wasser und Land. Ich hatte schon MRS und Alpacka, ich trage auch mein UltralightSUP durch die Gegend, um zurück zu paddeln..

aber nichts macht mir so viel Freude, wie in dieses kleine Boot zu hüpfen :) Wir waren bisher auf Bodensee, Rhein und Iller, und, was soll ich sagen? Es funktioniert und macht Spaß und kommt vorwärts (ja, nicht so schnell wie meine anderen Sachen aber immerhin!), der Sitz ist sehr bequem, es trocknet schnell, wiegt quasi nichts, funktioniert auch als Beiboot bei langem Schwimmen gut und ich finde es auch noch hübsch :)
