Material
HMG packs use a unique Dyneema Composite Fabric fabric. Along with its exceptional weight-to-strength ratio, it readily sheds water which means the material is not only waterresistant but won’t ‘wet out’ (absorb) and so gain weight. This makes the Windrider well suited to packrafting and other wet activities and also means you can forgo the nuisance of a rain cover. The fully taped seams and tight roll-top closure ensures the Windrider remains totally rain proof, although for rough water stages we recommend an additional liner for vulnerable items.
Construction
For ultralight packs, the HMG pack features an exceptional load-carrying capacity. HMG packs of this size can carry over 25 kg, which for a ~1 kilo pack is outstanding. The ability to achieve this while maintaining stability and day-long comfort is down to the rigid back panel, additional aluminium stays as well as a fixed hip belt. You can count on direct load transfer to the hips; key to portaging heavy loads efficiently.

- Top Closure: Roll-top closure system with vertical compression straps allows you to adjust the pack's volume, keeping the load compact, stable and protected from weather.
- Compression: Top Y-Strap provides compression and top of pack storage for gear.
- Back Panel: An integrated 1/4” foam back panel pad adds cushioning and support for a more comfortable carry.
- Hip Belt: Dual density foam hip belt, featuring closed cell foam and spacer mesh, provides comfort and support for long hauls. Additionally zippered pockets on the hip belt offer easy access to essentials, secured with a reliable #5 YKK Zipper.
- Stays: Two removable, contoured aluminum stays offer support and help distribute the load. Stays can be removed for additional weight savings.

- Sternum Straps: allows for easy adjustments along shoulder strap daisy chains.
- Redesigned shoulder straps: featuring an adjusted shape for a more natural curve around your neck, providing enhanced comfort. More adjustment options allow for a perfectly customized fit.
- Dyneema Fabric: Crafted with our exclusive Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9, this fabric offers significantly higher durability at a lighter weight . Its unique fully woven Dyneema face provides exceptional abrasion resistance, feels better to the touch, and reduces crinkling in cold conditions for a superior user experience.

The volume size (70L) is ideal for four-season, weekend, section, or thru hikes where resupply points are less frequent, bulkier cold weather gear is required, or the route calls for a packraft to complete it.
